Who we are
M.A.E. (Maintenance Automated Engineer) is operated by Mae Solutions, a data controller registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). For any privacy question or request, contact maeappsolutions@gmail.com.
What the app processes
M.A.E. processes the manuals and documents you add, the questions you ask, voice-to-text input, the fixes you choose to save, your app settings, and — if you create an account — your email address.
Accounts
You can use M.A.E. without creating an account; the app signs in anonymously in the background so answers can be generated. If you create an account, we store your email address and sign-in records using Google's Firebase Authentication service. Your account is used to operate the service, apply fair-usage limits, and keep your access consistent. You can request deletion of your account and its data at any time via the contact address above.
Your manuals and files
Manuals are read from the folder on your device that you choose (or files you share to M.A.E. from other apps), and are indexed on your device so M.A.E. can search them. Only files you add or attach are used. Please don't add documents you aren't authorised to process.
Cloud processing and AI
To generate answers, your questions — together with relevant extracts from your documents — are sent over a secure connection to Mae Solutions' backend and to Google's Gemini AI service. They are used to produce your answer, not to identify you.
Fair-usage information
To run the service reliably, we keep counts of service use (such as the number of questions asked) linked to your sign-in. This is used for fair-usage limits and service cost management, not for advertising. M.A.E. contains no advertising and your data is never sold.
Saved fixes
When you tap 'This fixed it', the summarised fix-note is stored on your device so M.A.E. can find it again. It is not shared with other users. (A future team version will let you choose to share fixes with your own organisation.)
Voice input
Talk uses your device's speech-recognition to convert speech to text. You can edit the text before sending.
Keeping and removing data
Most data stays on your device. You can remove saved data by clearing it in the app or uninstalling. To request access, correction or deletion of any data held by Mae Solutions, contact us at the address above.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact maeappsolutions@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
